speeches
During the wedding reception there are generally three speeches that take place.
The brides fathers speech, the bridegrooms speech and finally the best mans speech.
Of course this is open change. The bride may feel like she wishes to say a few words or the brides mother. It is completely up to the couple and who they wish to speak at their reception.

The brides fathers speechfather

The brides father will usually welcome everyone and thank them for sharing his daughters special day and welcome his new son in law to the family. He will also welcome the bride grooms parents and extended family to his family.

A toast to good health and happiness is then offered to the bride and groom and the brides father may say a few words about his daughter and also her new husband.

The bride grooms speech

The bridegroom will take this opportunity to thank his parents, new in-laws , extended family and guests to the wedding and offer thanks for gifts received.

There may be family members and friends who cannot attend the wedding who may have sent their best wishes so he will thank them all for their gifts and best wishes.

He may decide to say a few words about his beautiful bride and comment on how beautiful she is on this special day.
Finally he will thank the bridesmaids and all the wedding party for all their support and may offer a small token of appreciation. A bunch of flowers or a small item to say thank you.

The best mans speech

This is the part of the whole day that most best men dread!bestmanimage

It needn’t be such a daunting prospect. The best man just needs to respond to the other speeches by offering thanks on behalf of the bridesmaids. He can share some funny anecdotes about the couple or the groom. This can sometimes be a tricky endeavour. The most important thing is to know your audience. Although the couples friends or some family members may find a few crass jokes rather funny, be very mindful of the priest and the less open minded people that may be in attendance.

If you jump deep into a story that you can’t get yourself out of it can prove very embarrassing for all involved and you don’t want to have the bride rushing to the nearest exit in floods of tears having heard about amorous escapades her now husband had before he met her!
You understand where I’m going with this!
The best thing is to keep it short, to the point, full of well wishes and thanks and then the last part which is the raising of the glasses and a toast to the bride and groom.
